A daydream is a meal at which images are eaten. Some of us are gourmets, some gourmands, and a good many take their images precooked out of a can swallow them down whole, absentmindedly, and with little relish.
W.H. Auden
what happens to the hole when the donut is gone?
I love to eat words.I find them to be much more filling than images.
As for daydreams, they are for swimming.
But to tell you the truth, I think Mr. Auden
left out the category that I belong to. I am very un-gourmet; I savor all flavor.
I still like him, though.

Have you read The Phantom Tollbooth? Milo makes a speech, his words come to him on platters at the King's table, and then he eats them. (Well first he requests a light meal and the servers come out with bright rays and beams of beautiful light, but no one wants to eat it.)
